Ride London 100 – Join Our Team!

Ride London logoWhat is Ride London?

Prudential RideLondon is a world-class festival of cycling. The fifth edition will take place over the weekend of 28-30 July 2017, culminating in the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100.

Taking its cue from the London Marathon, this 100-mile challenge for amateur cyclists takes place on the same closed roads as the professionals, with the added incentive of raising money for good causes. For the first time in 2016, the event also featured the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 46 – a 46-mile sportive created specifically for newer and also younger cyclists.

Do I have to be very fit?

Not at all. Like the marathon, there is a ceratin amount of training that is expected, but there is a fantastic 12 week programme included in the official magazine for beginner, intermediate and advanced cyclists. Our Chief Executive, Chrissy, took part in 2015 and 2016, and reckons if she can do it, anyone can! In Chrissy’s own words:

“Ride London is like nothing I’ve ever experienced. The camraderie and goodwill of all other cyclists just makes it the most fantastic day. Cycling through London’s closed roads is an incredible opportunity; flying through the city first thing in the morning, before heading out to the beautiful Surrey countryside. And riding past Westminster, up Whitehall, and crossing the finish line in the Mall surrounded by thousands of cheering supporters – you will feel like a superhero. You won’t regret it!”

What would I have to do for the Mayor’s Music Fund?

Raise as much money as possible!

By getting all your friends and family to sponsor you to take part in this fantastic event, you will be helping us to raise much needed funds for our programmes. In doing so, you will be supporting the next generation of London’s talent, in particular those children from low-income families who wouldn’t otherwise be given the opportunity to develop their full potential. We will be able to provide you with plenty of case studies and detailed information on our work, and help you set up a fundraising page on JustGiving or Virgin Money Giving. Read more about our programmes here.

In return for the bonded charity place and all entry fees, we ask our riders to commit to finding a minimum of £750 through fundraising, though of course, the sky’s the limit!

Sounds great. What do I do now?
